Welcome!

Over the last 2 years we have pursued a number of initiatives to make Clubhouse more energy efficient (cheaper to run) and more environmentally friendly. We've a tradition of being quite conscientious about recycling and waste but have managed to build on this to improve things on several levels.

We've been helped in this by Voluntary Action Westminster who have conducted 2 'eco audits'  (having a good look at everything we do and advising us where we can improve) and have significantly reduced our energy use and water use.  We've also increased the amount of waste we recycle and have plans for a garden project that will allow us to recycle almost all of our food waste and put it to good use as fertiliser.

The Church of England across London has announced an initiative (Route 2050) to improve the efficiency, cost effectiveness and friendlyness of it's churchs and builidings and we hope to share our experiences and positively contribute - visit their website here -  www.london.anglican.org/Shrinking-the-Footprint

In the not too distant future we will be starting some interesting new projects details of which will appear here as we announce them.  Please feel free to make suggestions, comments or come and join in, this is not only good for Clubhouse and fun but several people who helped with the insulation project picked up useful tips and then improved the efficiency of their own homes and cut those bills!

Below are the first designs for some stickers to remind us to recycle when we can and switch off when we're done.  We'll be renewing these in the autumn so if you would like to design some please feel free to send us any ideas etc.

Do come back to this page, in the near future there will be tips and advice on the best ways to cut Clubhouse's running costs and make it 'greener' as well as results of what we have managed to save.

This month's energy saving tip - if you have a router for internet access at home turn it off when not in use as they use a surprising amount of electricity, especially the wireless ones.
